I am so excited to be entering into the world of yoga with you and your little one(s). Here is all the information you need to know before coming to your first class.
Every student and caregiver must have a signed Waiver of Liability before beginning class. No exceptions.
Parents will be asked to fully participate in each class. When children see the adults in the room conversing with each other, they tend to "check out." That being said, I will also limit my conversation with you during class. Most of what I say will be directed at the children. I may even sneak in directions to you that way! Please do not feel that I am talking down to you or diminishing your presence in any way. I'm simply trying to maintain a state of managed chaos.
***Due to limited classroom space, family members and friends are asked not to observe these classes.***
All children have their own unique learning style. Some children will jump right in, while others will be more reserved and prefer to stay close to you. In this class, please respect your child's manner of participation and know that they are just being themselves. The room will be as childproof as possible, so as to create a "yes" environment, so please do not feel that you always need to redirect him/her. There are no expectations as to what your child should be doing at any given time in class. Some children may never do a single pose in class, but they will be taking it all in.
Please take care of your child's needs--children who are hungry, thirsty, or need a diaper change don't want to do yoga! Please step out of class for anything beyond bottle feeding, breastfeeding, or water. All snacks and drinks (other than water or bottles) should be kept outside the classroom/studio. Please make sure all drinks are in a closed-top container. Breastfeeding is always welcome.
Things to Bring to Class
· Water for you
· Snacks/drinks/bottle for your child (see above)
· A yoga mat (if you have one; I will have some extras on-hand)
· For Baby Bears only: Please bring a yoga mat (if you have one), 1-2 baby blankets (receiving blanket size), and a small, eye-catching toy
Things to Leave at Home
Toys, stuffed friends, and even lovies (if at all possible). Very special friends can watch class from the side if necessary, but toys of any kind just cause conflict in class.
Where to Go
The Creative Cow (4 Newport Drive, Forest Hill, MD 21050): Parking is available in the spaces in front of the studio or along the street. Class will be held in the party room at the back of the studio!
Razz Yoga (13812 Jarrettsville Pike, Phoenix, MD 21131): Located just past the traffic light at the corner of Jarrettsville Pike and Merrymans Mill Road. Plenty of parking in the lot!
Peace Yoga (122 S. Main Street, Bel Air, MD 21014): Conveniently located in the heart of Bel Air in the building beside Charm City Running. Parking is available across the street (metered parking before 5 PM, free after 5 PM) or behind the building in the large lot (must enter from Bond Street). You will use the entrance on the side of the building. Look for the Peace Yoga “Y” on the window.
Finally, and most importantly, just remember to be present and enjoy this special time with your little one! Have fun watching how they change and grow!
